چکیده

The purpose of this study was to retrospectively evaluate the efficacy a tranexamic acid (TXA) perioperative protocol for primary hip- and knee arthroplasty, in terms allogenic blood transfusion rates. A retrospective cohort conducted included all hip arthroplasty procedures period 2014-2019. Patients who underwent surgery due trauma or revision were excluded. total amount 5205 patients eligible inclusion. Effect of Tranexamic Acid on Blood Loss and Blood Transfusion Reduction after Total Knee Arthroplasty

PURPOSE Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) accompanies the risk of bleeding and need for transfusion. There are several methods to reduce postoperative blood loss and blood transfusion. One such method is using tranexamic acid during TKA. The purpose of this study was to confirm whether tranexamic acid reduces postoperative blood loss and blood transfusion after TKA. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total ...

Delirium after fast-track hip and knee arthroplasty - a cohort study of 6331 elderly patients.

BACKGROUND Postoperative delirium (PD) is a well-known complication among elderly surgical patients and associated with increased morbidity, mortality and length of stay (LOS). In elective orthopedic surgery, including hip and knee arthroplasty (THA/TKA), most studies report incidences between 5% and 10%. The multimodal optimization of perioperative care (fast-track) aims to enhance recovery an...

Sleep disturbances after fast-track hip and knee arthroplasty.

BACKGROUND Major surgery is followed by pronounced sleep disturbances after traditional perioperative care potentially leading to prolonged recovery. The aim was to evaluate the rapid eye movement (REM) sleep duration and sleep architecture before and after fast-track hip and knee replacement with length of stay (LOS) <3 days. The primary endpoint was REM sleep duration on the first postoperati...

Blood Loss and Transfusion After Topical Tranexamic Acid Administration in Primary Total Knee Arthroplasty.

There has been much debate and controversy about the safety and efficacy of the topical use of tranexamic acid in primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA). The purpose of this study was to perform a meta-analysis to evaluate whether there is less blood loss and lower rates of transfusion after topical tranexamic acid administration in primary TKA. A systematic review of the electronic databases Pu...
